A series of adventures designed for Risus: The Anything RPG by S. John Ross.
The year is 1975, and you're headed across the pond to London on a transatlantic flight. You arrive at Gate 17 to see a large crate being loaded into the cargo hold, and overhear the staff mentioning that there are European nobles aboard.
Shortly after takeoff, an unexpected high-altitude storm causes one of the plane’s engines to explode, hurtling Flight 370 into the Atlantic Ocean. You're shaken, but help is on its way.
That's when you hear it - a knocking on the cabin doors.
Ever since the Abbott family moved into the quiet New England neighborhood of Harmstead, they’ve been besieged by strange visions and occurrences; but the most frightening is the thing that’s watching them from the edges of the woods.
That’s where you come in. You’re the crew of the moderately successful TV show “Ghost Country” and if anyone can get to the root of all this it’s you.
Grab your gear, talk to the neighbors, and prepare to spend a night at the Abbott residence. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll finally capture evidence of the supernatural.
You are part of a team of award-winning journalists who have been working at The Gazette for years. Several months ago your friend and colleague Neil left on a research trip and has been missing ever since.
Today a postcard showed up at the office from the coastal town of Gull Point Reef, bearing a simple message:
“Found something. They’re after me.”
With your only clue in hand, you set out to the beach.
Find out what happened to Neil and bring him home safely.
You’ve been driving through the snow for hours now. With every mile marker your eyes grow heavier until you see a familiar sign: "Pop’s Diner. Next Exit.”
The last time you were here was twenty years ago, when you and your friends buried something deep within the trees of Mumford Cemetery and promised to take the secret of what happened that night to the grave.
But now the land’s been sold, and a real estate firm is planning to dig up the whole area to make room for luxury condos. You had to act fast or there would be big consequences for everyone involved.
You sit down, eat your meal, and prepare for what you know is going to be the longest night of your life.
